Standing at 14.3hh, “Dice” is just as wide as she is thick – she carries the frame of a bull dog on a friendly budget of AIR! This beautiful girl is a personal horse of ours. With a lot of back and forth, considering and reconsidering, we have come to the sad reality that with the never ending revolving door of projects and the three youngsters who are coming of age to saddle train, it is time for Dice to find a home who can give her the attention and love she so deserves.

Dice is a handy broke mare who has been around the block a time or two. Her education includes a light one handed neck rein, a beautiful side pass and moving her hindquarters and forehand off of leg pressure. This mare is no speed and all power – she is built to work and will dig in her toes to drag the most resistant animal. She is a phenomenal pony horse who educates the babies on where they should stand – not too far back, but don’t get ahead either! Down the busy road, through the woods, over the biggest logs, across creeks and rivers – Dice has done it all, with and without playful bucking yearlings, irritable uneducated mid-aged horses, miniature horses, and even a very unimpressed donkey.

Dice does best when ridden consistently. When she has been ridden consistently, she has been used as a guest horse for the kid’s friends, taken to barrel races by a 13 year old, and used to take my two year old son out on trail rides in the buddy seat. She has even been ridden triple with my two year old son in the front, my partner in the middle, and my 5 year old son in the back. When she isn’t ridden consistently, she gets snorty, but has never offered to buck or bolt.

She prefers to travel in the company of others but will go out alone for a confident rider. When being left by the group on a trail ride, she will get antsy. However, she has no problem getting ahead and leaving the group herself.

Dice does require shoes if riding on any sort of hard terrain. She is quick to get tender if riding on rocks or gravel without shoes.

This grulla mare is well loved and we hope to find her the best home possible. She is a thick mare who is currently on no grain or supplements. She lives out in the pasture with a run in and is middle-high of the pecking order in a pasture of geldings and mares, a couple of foals, and a mule. She has also been pastured with Miniature Horses and Miniature Donkeys and is generally pretty easy to catch.
