Pumba

How cute is this little chunk of a quarter pony?! Pumba was destined to be a kid's pony from day one. He is the first to greet you at the gate, an absolute pet, and a glutton for any and all the attention he can get!

He is just 5 years old, a cherry red sorrel with a beautiful flaxen mane and tail. He weighs in at 750 pounds, stands exactly 12.2 hands tall, and is easily that wide! He is plenty big enough for mom or dad to hop on if need be! He packs me through the hills and I’m 5’11 and pregnant!

Pumba is a family favorite here. You simply can’t have a bad day around him! We have used him to rope the dummy in the arena, move cows on the ranch, ride the trails on the weekend, and tooled around town to see the sights and sounds and he has always taken everything in stride. He knows a rope, will walk across a tarp with ease, has drug logs in the arena, and is used to dogs and kids all around him. He truly prefers the presence of a person to other horses and will lope in off pasture if he sees you are nearby.

Pumba was started by a young boy who did a fantastic job showing him the ropes! He is learning to be soft in the bridle but can still pull on the bit a hair if a kiddo gets to balancing on his mouth with their reins. He isn’t malicious about it, he is just giving them a friendly reminder to use their seat for balance rather than their hands. He is a VERY forgiving pony! He would make a fantastic lead-line pony or starter pony for your little ones.

Pumba is patient and kind and TRULY one of those very hard to find ponies who didn’t come prepackaged with the pony attitude! He is a pony that can take a joke and not get frustrated or frazzled if a kid is just learning how to ride. He rides like a big horse and is truly the kind you can plop your littles on and know he will take care of them! He is one I would load the kids on and go about my day knowing he will take care of them and not let them get into too much mischief together.
